Forensic Imaging & Animations

AEI Corporation is dedicated to providing state-of-the art, advanced approaches to forensic site documentation of accident sites through various forensic imaging techniques. Further, we are always striving to better provide tools used to convey the information to our clients and future jurors.

GRAPHICS, ANIMATIONS, & MODELS

AEI Corporation utilizes industry leading laser and infrared scanning technology to capture high-definition images and generate a 3-dimensional (3D) accurate representation 3-dimensional (3D) of almost any incident scene or product. Generating millions of measurable data points, scanning is an excellent tool for scene documentation and preservation. Precise data, including 3D coordinates, topographies, elevations, and surface profiles is captured non-destructively without effecting the physical scene or any of the associated evidence – critical with any forensic investigation. The high-quality data captured can be processed to generate high-resolution panoramic HDR imagery, 2D CAD models or floorplans, and 3D virtual environments/models. 3D scanning can be used to generate compelling trial exhibits such as an immersive virtual walkthrough of an incident scene.

With the ability to deploy across the country or internationally at a moment’s notice, AEI Corporation can integrate a 3D site scan into any investigation. From the small fire scene to a large loss involving multiple structures or complex commercial/industrial facilities, our experienced technical staff has the capabilities to scan virtually any site.

DRONES/UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES (UAVS)

AEI Corporation utilizes Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as “Drones” for a wide variety of forensic investigations. By employing drones to supplement our standard scene investigation and documentation process, AEI can collect valuable high-resolution imagery and video from an aerial platform to aid in our forensic investigations. A bird’s eye view can be helpful for evidence identification/collection, 3D site mapping, aerial photogrammetry, damage assessment of surrounding properties, and overall scene documentation. This suite of aerial imagery, video, GPS location, and 3D data are very powerful for post-site analysis. Integrating the imagery data with specialized software, complex 3D models and site maps can be generated for use as persuasive courtroom exhibits that educate a jury. Further, forensic documentation with drones allows for faster, safer, and more efficient inspections of difficult to access sites and potentially dangerous environments.

AEI Corporation maintains a fleet of cutting edge drones and has on staff Part 107 FAA-licensed professional pilots that can quickly deploy to assist with any catastrophic event or forensic investigation. Our experienced technical staff have the capabilities to assist with documenting complex, hazardous, and difficult to access scenes including, wildland fires, explosion sites with large debris fields, oil and gas installations (both onshore and offshore), and other complex facilities or multi-structure incident sites.
